Dear ___________:

Allow me to begin by expressing that I am extremely passionate about my education. I strive to go beyond the course requirements in order to learn new skills and techniques which will help me to develop both academically and professionally. I find that I am adept at applying my well rounded skill set in novel ways, quickly finding solutions to problems which I have no prior expertise in solving. To that end, I feel as though I could be a valuable asset in your team. The position being offered aligns fluidly with both my existing expertise and the particular segments of the industry about which I am most passionate.

I am very proficient in the Java programming language as highlighted in my resume. I have so far taken three formal courses directly in Java Programming, in addition to a Programming Languages course which provided me with a more elaborate understanding of the Java Compiler, along with the C Compiler. Following this course I have been teaching myself core concepts in both C and C++ in order to understand the differences between the two languages. With that in mind, I set out to teach myself, spending 40 to 50 hours a week absorbing as much from the Android API Libraries and various online instructional media.

Within just one month I had been able to successfully build a fully functioning version of the Android Application which I had planned out theoretically with my research advisor. The App, described in my resume by its title "LifeLine," utilizes native sensors on the device to monitor for and detect sudden falls, then in the event that one occurs the user is prompted as to whether or not they are okay. If there is no response from the user then LifeLine automatically dials for 911 without requiring any input.

I presented my application after just a single month of development, including time spent learning the most basic techniques, to investors at Princeton University's Medical Devices Symposium in early June of 2017. My design was so well received that I was presented with the award for Selected Presenter. In the month following this proposal for funding I worked hard on improving the application, one such feature I had included was an Image Processing OCR utility designed for individuals with poor eyesight who struggle with reading the LCD displays of their Blood Pressure Monitors.

I am so proud of having accomplished all of this, along with my award winning presentation, released a significantly updated second version of the application to the Google Play Store, filed for a patent and submitted an article for peer review all before mid-August.

I have a strong passion for my work that I guarantee will be mirrored in my contributions to the company. I may not be an expert in all fields, as of course no one truly is, but I approach every new challenge head-on. I would be grateful to discuss this job opening with you in a personal interview. Please feel free to call me at ‪(202) 599-5086‬ or you may contact me via email at contact@peterk.codes to arrange this.

Best Regards,

Peter Krivoshik
